LAST DAY for the year

Today is the last day of Enrich for the year.  I am delighted that this will be my last blog post for a while.  Sorry about not blog posting, been really busy in Environment because every Friday me and the gardening girls go to the Otatara nursery. Last week was our last week there, we had a look at a food forest. We also got some some strawberries, I only got one small one and some lucky girls got a big one and a small one. Anyway I got 5 or 6 big ones for morning tea today. 

My day so far

Today I did a poster about composting and environment. It took a lot of work. First we had to put the title, then we had to download the pictures. It took us at least an hour to get partly through. Imagine how long it would take us to finish it. I would get photos but I don't have any time, but I might put a photo on when I am finished.
Who knows MacGyver? Because today we did a task based on MacGyver's skills. We had to build a tool out of...

8 full sheets of news paper
3 metres of cellotape
3 metres of string
4 paper clips
1 plastic shopping bag
1 pair of scissors

We had to grab a mullet and medium sized chisel but our feet were stuck in concrete. We needed the mullet and chisel so we could get out and defuse a bomb. We had 15 mins to build the tool and 1 min to grab the mullet and chisel but no-one succeeded from our day. Only one person did it but they were from a completely different day to me. You were meant to have three to a group but in my group it was just me and Christina.

Passion Designs

Today I spent my Enrich passion time doing designing for Clothes here are the and the pics. My Favorite one is second down it is called Gown Down. I have a total of 26 designs in my design book I didn't do all of them at enrich I did some of them at my Nana and Granddad Hucks house in the holidays!

                                                                                                 

This is what I have done I am hoping that these will be turned from designs to real clothes!

Wilson Game

Hi Arnia here today we did a new version of the Wilson game Bullseye here are the basic instructions.

1. You have stand behind a line.

2. You should have five things to throw with.

3. You need four hoops per team.

4. If it is touching the hoop then you have to go get it.

5. In the new version it doesn't matter which hoop it's in but in the normal version it has to go in order 1 2 3 4 .

6. Points are awarded like Hoop1 Three points  Hoop2 Six points  Hoop3 Nine points  Hoop4 Twelve points.

Riddles today are:
What english word retains the same pronunciation even after you take away four of it's five letters?
A word I know six letters it contains remove one and twelve remains what am I?
This old one runs forever but never moves at all he has no lungs nor throat but still a mighty roaring call What is it?

Today at my high interest station. We made home made light bulbs with household objects.

 

8 D sized batteries

Clear jar

Electrical tape

Pie pan

Cardboard tubing

Pencil lead

Black and red alligator clips

Once it was all handed out we started making it

Step 1.   You use the electrical tape to tightly hold the batteries together.

Step 2.   You tape the end of the clips without the rubber on to the tube.

Step 3.   Then you put the tubing on to the pie pan and put the jar on top of the tubing

Step 4.   After that you hold the rubber bits stick the alligator clips onto the ends of the batteries

Step 5.   BOOF! your light is on.

We did lots of things today but my favorite was the Environment Talk.

We had a special guest in today it was Anistazia from Environment Southland.

She told is about the mud in the Waihopi river and that it is killing all the little animals that live there.

Cause the mud squashes their homes and suffocates them. She also talked to us about ways that we could help make it better by doing things like planting trees to keep the dirt out.

Self assessment sheet

Today we did this self reflection sheet about all of the learning I have done at Enrich this term.

We have also played a Wilson game today.  It was called the hoop game.  You had to go in a group of three and you had to jump 8 feet to a hoop.  If you feet came apart or you fell over or if you jumped when Katie hadn't clapped you had to go back to the beginning.  You weren't allowed to touch the hoop either as you jumped into it.

Drama with Darryn

Today I did talent development . I was in the drama group with Darryn . I am in "Sleeping ugly" as the fairy, it will be fun . This is my favourite line: "Do that again and I'll turn your foot to stone!" Do you like it? Cause I do. Plus everybody is in The Three Little Wolfs and The Big Bad Pig . These are readers theatre scripts we will be performing for our sharing night.

It is good to see that you are making a real effort to manage your time Arnia and to plan your day more successfully - well done. You certainly did a much better job over the last couple of weeks. The drama talent development was also a good choice for you and you certainly embraced the chance to get into character and perform! Keep planning your days carefully as it is a really important life skill.

Back at enrich

We have been having so much fun at enrich already


We have been using toontastic on the i pads to retell a fairy tale


Also we are trying to figure out what our talent development is going to be.


I hope that I am at the art talent development group.


Next week I will work really hard on managing my time!!
